Excellent coin. What may appear to be toning or shadows is simply burn from scanner bulb reflection. Coin is pure white.
VietNam Veterans National Medal issued by the United States Mint, that's 1 ounce in weight. This medal is large, about 1 1/2 inches, which makes it the about the size of a Eisenhower Dollar coin. It is in BU Condition and is still protected in its original sealed plastic cover. The medal is made of Bronze and has a very bright shinny reddish color. On the other side it reads, "In honor of those man and women who gave of themselves in an effort to ensure democracy and peace throughout the world this medal is struck by act of congress 1984".
U.S. Mint Vietnam bronze medal. The medal is 1 1/2" in size and comes in its original issued mint packet. Info provided via the mint is: The obverse design depicts U.S. combat troops engaged in a helicopter assault operation. The helicopter and troops are superimposed over a map of Vietnam. The words "VIETNAM VETERANS NATIONAL MEDAL" are around the outer border. The reverse design features the phrase "IN HONOR OF THOSE MEN AND WOMEN WHO GAVE OF THEMSELVES IN AN EFFORT TO ENSURE DEMOCRACY AND PEACE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD THIS MEDAL IS STRUCK BY ACT OF CONGRESS 1984". An eagle with American flags and the U.S. Capitol in the background is in the lower part of the design. Composition is 90% copper & 10% zinc. Obverse designer was Terrill K. Tritch. Reverse design was done by Jim Peed.
